100 Days of Lettering Motivation

Hello Hello!

Thank you all for being patient with me while I’ve been away a bit. Working full-time and running a business is hard work! While juggling life can be a struggle, out comes an opportunity, right?

Now, some of you may not know what #the100dayproject is so here is a little bit of background for you. Elle Luna (@elleluna) and Lindsay Jean (@lindsayjeanthomson) have this incredible challenge called, you guessed it, The 100 Day Project. This is a 100 day art project and it kicked (I realize I’m a day late, I’m sorry!) off on April 4th, 2017. But don’t let that discourage you from joining in and learning more about it.

What I love about this project is that they also offer a 16-week course that can help you out (see the link above!) and they have a fun newsletter that will send you encouragement. But what I equally love is this is a consistent way to practice. I don’t think I would have gotten as far as I have thus far if I didn’t letter every single day. Even if it is just a quick prompt from an Instagram challenge or drills to build muscle memory. Practice makes perfect. Seriously. Though I am far, far from perfect (and I am embracing those imperfections with The Lettering Tribe’s Wabi Sabi Challenge this month), you have to practice, practice, practice for everything you want in life. And then one day, or every day, you will feel thankful for that practice.

Now, this project allows you to pick something unique to you and what you want to focus on for this project. That is where my juggle struggle comes in to play. Keeping up with life can be super tricky. Personally, I am going through a fitness journey, I work a full-time job as a scientist, I expanded Flotography Design into a real business, and I need not mention the daily tasks of cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, blah blah blah.

So, I wanted to use the 100 days to lift me up and make me feel ready to chase the day. Every. Single. Day. For 100 days. I will be lettering motivational sayings, quotes, phrases and may even just a single word to push myself to the next level in whatever I may do – may that is fitness or going for a promotion or maybe just getting out of bed for the day.

I know this is unique to myself, but if you want to join in and give yourself a kick in the behind, please do! I will be using the hashtag #100dayslettermotivation!

Follow my Instagram account and follow my 100 day journey!

Motivationally yours,

~Erin Floto
